I Want To Cut and Collect

I Want To Cut and Collect

One of the most common requests we receive when discussing replacement equipment with a customer.

As part of the Home page of our website E.S.E Groundcare it explains:

Combining over 30 years wealth of experience in the industry enabling us to advise and recommend the right Groundcare machinery product for the right task efficiently, professionally and competitively.

This is probably THE most important part of the core ethos of our business. The biggest problem you can bring on to the customer and ourselves is to offer and sell the WRONG product for the customers needs. This is why we spend a good deal of time questioning the customer and sometimes asking for pictures of there property etc so we CAN advise and offer the correct product.

Cut and Collect is one of those issues that requires a good deal of discussion with the customer. The main reason for cut and collect is obviously to remove the cut grass from a grassed area. This can help with eliminating playing children and pets dragging unwanted grass into a property for example. It also has a visual benefit by offering a cleaner look to the cut area. Also stops wet clumps of longer grass damaging the new grass below.

Thoughts of consideration:

  • Time

Once questioning a customer it can very quickly be apparent that more time will be taken driving the mower to the designated grass pile to empty the collector and then returning the continue cutting than actually cutting the grass itself.

  • Cost

You will be using a lot more fuel taking in to account the above mentioned travelling time to and from the grass pile.

  • The Pile

It will very quickly surprise many customers just how much grass is collected and how large and fast the grass pile will get. This can have both impacts with its visibility within a property and its aroma as its breaks down.

  • Downtime

Different Cut and Collect machines work in different ways and some are more effective than others. Some people think that as they are collecting the grass they can cut it less frequently and collect all the grass to leave an instantly impressive look the the grass. The reality is you will spend more time unblocking and clearing the machine out. The simple physics of nearly all mowers is that the cutting deck is able to cut more grass than it can discharge or collect. This result in either blockages or the need to drastically reduce speed.

Frequent cutting and maintaining a sensible cutting height is the simple solution to nearly all grass cutting issues Cut and Collect or Not.
